Summary
The object of Bee Cubed is to correctly spell seven words before time runs out. Players must correctly spell two words from each of the three
levels. Then the Spelling Bee chooses one final word from the remaining, unspelled words. The game ends when a word is misspelled, the final
word is spelled correctly, or time runs out.
Instructions
- Make sure your speakers are properly installed and the volume is turned up.
- Click "Start."
- Listen for the pronunciations of the three words in Level 1. As a word is pronounced, its initial letter appears on its cube.
- Click on the cube whose word you would like to spell. The initial letter will appear below the cube and you will type the remaining letters after it.
- If you want to hear the pronunciation before you spell the word, click on its cube.
- When you're ready to spell the word, type in the rest of the letters. Be careful; one wrong letter ends the game.
- After you spell the first word, the game will prompt you to select another word.
- Once you correctly spell two words on Level 1, you will hear pronunciations for the words on Level 2.
- After you've spelled two words on Level 2, you'll move to Level 3.
- When two words on Level 3 are spelled correctly, the Spelling Bee will choose one final word from the unspelled words.
- Spell the final word correctly and you win!
- Click "Play Again" to restart game.

Game Tips
Game Play
- Bee Patient! Wait for all three words in a level to be pronounced before you try to select the first word you want to spell.
- Don't rush your typing: If you type one wrong letter, you'll have to start over.
- Remember that you don't have to type the first letter of the word!
- A blank after a letter indicates that another letter follows.
- You can't move up a level until two words are spelled correctly.
- Clicking on the "Sound" icon so that a circle with a slash appears will not disable the pronunciations; only the "Game Over" and "You Won!" sounds will be disabled.
Strategy
- Don't be afraid to try one of the hard words in the first round; if you get it, you'll feel great and if you miss it, at least you won't have spelled too many others.
- If you are not sure how to spell a word, think about easier words you know that are spelled like the one you don't; maybe the spelling of the simpler words will help you guess the right spelling.
- Listen for familiar prefixes and suffixes (such as "pre-" or "post-"); they can help you figure out how to spell an otherwise unfamiliar word.
- If you make a mistake, look at the word you missed. The incorrect letter will appear in red and blank spaces will appear to show you how many more letters needed to be added to spell the word properly.
- Listen for familiar words (for instance, place names or shorter words) within unfamiliar ones and see if you can use what you already know to help you figure out spellings you aren't sure of (for instance, knowing how to spell "insect" can give you a big leg up on spelling "insecticide").
- Break compound words into their separate elements to make it easier to remember how to spell them.
- If you're completely stumped, click "Answers."
